Hundreds of people were thrown into a fight for survival as a passenger ferry capsized at sea, leaving men, women, and children clinging to the overturned vessel and struggling in the water as rescuers race to reach them. At least eight people have died and about 20 remain missing after the ferry, carrying 267 passengers and crew, began taking on water off the coast of Cyprus. Among the missing are two young siblings. Their mother says she desperately held onto her daughter in the water before losing her grip. Nine people have been detained as authorities investigate what caused the ferry to sink, while families desperately wait for word on those still missing. ▻
