HOLLYWOOD AREA COMMAND IS NOW OPEN! Today, Sheriff Kevin McMahill joined public officials and the community to officially open the new Hollywood Area Command. This facility is an important investment in our community and will temporarily serve as the home of our Southeast Area Command while that location undergoes approximately nine months of renovations. The Hollywood Area Command was made possible through Clark County’s Capital Improvement Program, and LVMPD is grateful for the county’s partnership and continued investment in the infrastructure that supports the men and women who serve our community. Today’s opening carries special meaning for the Southeast Area Command family. Last month, they lost Officer Austin Zade Abdelnabi, who was killed in the line of duty. Officer Abdelnabi would have been among the officers moving into this facility this week. As renovations begin at the Southeast Area Command, his locker will be preserved in his honor. The memorial for Officer Charleston Hartfield, who was killed during the October 1 shooting nine years ago, will also remain in place. With this new area command, LVMPD will be even better equipped to serve and protect our residents, ensuring faster response times and a greater presence in the community.
