As we recognize Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to take a moment to honor the history, culture, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino communities that have helped shape our city, our department, and our nation. Dallas is strengthened by its diversity, and that diversity is reflected within the Dallas Police Department. Every day, our Hispanic officers and professional staff serve this city with dedication, professionalism, and pride. Your experiences, perspectives, and commitment make this department better and help us build stronger relationships with the communities we serve. Yesterday, we officially kicked off our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, and I want to extend a special thank you to the National Latino Law Enforcement Organization (NLLEO), Office of Community Affairs, and Media Relations for sponsoring and coordinating the event. Your efforts created an opportunity for our DPD family to come together, celebrate our colleagues, and recognize the rich traditions and contributions of Hispanic and Latino culture. Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, I encourage each of you to take time to learn, celebrate, and appreciate the people and stories that make our department and our city so special. More importantly, let us carry that spirit beyond this month by continuing to respect our differences, learn from one another, and serve every Dallas community with dignity and compassion.
