End of Watch: Deputy Sheriff John T. Allen September 18, 1928 Today we honor the memory of Deputy Sheriff John T. Allen, who gave his life in the line of duty on September 18, 1928. Allen was commissioned by Sheriff Sam Gay and served with courage and integrity. After apprehending a horse theft suspect, Allen was later ambushed and killed in Pahoon, Arizona. He was 61 years old. Nearly a century later, his service and sacrifice are not forgotten.
