BRET BAIER: “You know, Charles could always cut through the noise, and he’s right. The Chinese do get upset about the littlest things, but the president says his relationship with President Xi goes a long way ahead of this summit.” BRIT HUME: “I’m not sure I would set quite as much store by the relationship as the president does, but I think Charles is right. The Chinese are sensitive to these things, and I think the one thing about this summit we can predict with almost certainty is that the pageantry and the outward appearance of it will be quite striking. It will look like two good old friends getting together, and that the relationship with the Chinese and the United States is close. I don’t think it’s very close, but I think it will look that way.” BRET BAIER: “And the other thing Treasury Secretary Bessent made some news that was kind of blunt was his prediction about Iran.” BRIT HUME: “Yes, he said two things that really struck me. One was, ‘Iran will say uncle’. He used that phrase, say uncle, and he also said that if there is an agreement with Iran, Iran will stick to it. He didn’t say those things with a lot of qualification. He didn’t put a timestamp on them, but he said those things outright and flatly. I thought that was notable, Bret, and it was a good interview, and I thought that was one of the high watermarks of it.” ▻
