JUST IN: Convicted killer Christa Pike is now in critical condition after surviving two lethal injection attempts in Tennessee, according to her attorney. "Christa is alive right now," attorney Randy Spivey says, adding that Pike is receiving "lifesaving care" at a hospital. Another attorney says it appears a needle may have become dislodged or pierced through a vein, preventing the lethal drug from being properly administered. Tennessee officials have not yet confirmed what caused the execution to fail. Pike was sentenced to death for the 1995 torture and murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer. She was set to become the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years. The extraordinary sequence inside the execution chamber is now under investigation.
