BREAKING: Christa Pike remains critically ill, unconscious, and on a ventilator as her attorneys ask a court to preserve “any and all evidence” related to Tennessee’s botched attempt to execute her. “As of last night, October 1, 2026, Ms. Pike remains critically ill and is being treated at a Nashville-area hospital. She is intubated, on a ventilator, and remains unconscious,” her attorneys say in the new filing. The filing says Pike arrived at the hospital with both arms “swollen, burned, and blistered” after the Sept. 30 execution attempt. Her attorneys say hospital staff are working to save her life and clear the pentobarbital from her system. Pike survived after Tennessee administered two doses of pentobarbital during the execution attempt. Now, her attorneys are moving to preserve evidence from inside the execution chamber as questions remain over exactly what happened.
