A Dangerous Good Deed - from The Do Good Crew Newsletter: Let us tell you about Michael Gianopoulos. Michael owns COV, a restaurant overlooking the Hudson River and New York City skyline. On a busy Friday night, he noticed commotion near the water: a woman’s purse had fallen into the river. She was visiting from Australia, and her passport, inhaler, and other personal belongings were inside. Michael and his staff tried everything they could to reach it. They grabbed nets and even found a 15-foot PVC pipe. But after about 20 minutes, the current was carrying the purse farther away. “I kind of saw the window,” Michael told us, “and I was like, this is the only way I can go and help this lady out.” Send stories and nominations honoring friends, teachers, neighbors, or local heroes to DearDavid@DavidBegnaud.com.
