This week our CEO @​NiccoloDeMasi joined His Majesty The King's AI Summit at Dumfries House in Scotland, contributing to discussions with leaders at the forefront of AI chips, advanced technology, and scientific research. Niccolo shared that the quantum processing unit (QPU) will sit alongside the graphics processing unit (GPU) in shaping what computing does for the economy and society. Quantum technologies will tackle problems that are not economically viable on classical machines and keep people in charge of the questions being asked. Niccolo also set out what this means in practice. Work that classical machines cannot take on will create new jobs and new growth, in materials science, pharmaceuticals and financial services thanks to quantum systems. On the problems they are built for, quantum computers can reach an answer using a fraction of the energy a classical supercomputer would need. In a world where grid capacity is becoming the limit on what can be computed, developing these solutions has never been more important."
