According to her attorneys, Christa Pike is conscious and speaking after a botched execution last week in Tennessee. Several failed attempts to administer lethal injections reportedly left her critically injured and on a ventilator. “Her recovery is medically unprecedented,” her attorneys said. “Her prognosis remains unclear, but at a minimum, we expect a long recovery.” Pike has suffered “severe damage” to her arms and is allegedly still handcuffed to her hospital bed. Pike was sentenced to death for her role in the 1995 killing of a 19-year-old woman. She was 18 years old at the time of the killing.
