End of Watch: Police Officer Milburn Beitel III October 8, 2009 Today, we remember Officer Milburn “Milli” Wilbur Beitel III, who joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on September 30, 2003, after proudly serving four years in the United States Marine Corps. Known to many as “Milli,” he was a devoted public servant who exemplified commitment to both his country and his community. On the night of October 7, 2009, while responding to a call for service, Beitel swerved to avoid a citizen’s vehicle. His patrol car overturned, and he was ejected in the crash. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical staff, he passed away from his injuries on October 8, 2009. He was just 30 years old. Officer Beitel’s service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who served beside him and the community he protected.
